Teaching Discipleship according to Jesus’ very Words
It is our desire to compassionately serve, without discrimination, whosoever comes to us in need.
We believe that God calls all people to Himself and that we can lay all our burdens and cares upon Him.
(Luke 11:28) – Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
We endeavor to convey the love of GOD to our program members, guests, and everyone we have the honor to serve. We also want to see each person equipped with the tools needed for a new and wonderful life in Christ.
II Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
We want our guests and clients to find a good church home.
Hebrews 10:23-25 teaches, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”
We also want to see each one gainfully employed with a home of his/her own.
Leviticus 19:9-10 “When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.”
We teach about God’s Love and How through the Holy Spirit A Disciple must share God’s love with others.
John 13:35 “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
We teach how important it is that a Disciple read, study, memorize, meditate, and apply God’s Word to his/her life each and every day.
John 8:31 “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believe on him, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.”
We teach that a Disciple must abide in the Holy Spirit so that the fruits of the spirit can be manifested in the lives of His children.
John 15:8 “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
We teach that the Disciple must follow Christ’s example of humility, love and servitude, especially in the face of persecution.
Matt. 10:24,25 “The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub how much more shall they call them of his household?”
We teach that a Disciple must deny self, and be 100% committed to Jesus.
Luke 14: 26,27 “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
We teach that a Disciple must share the “Gospel” with others and teach others what it means to be a Disciple.
Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”

THE PURPOSE OF THE ASTORIA RESCUE MISSION..
..is to offer assistance, as made available, to those in need.
The Astoria Rescue Mission is an ARM of the local churches in reaching out to the “least, the last and the lost.” Our primary concern is seeing lives saved, introducing people to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and helping them to develop a relationship with HIM.
We serve all who come to us, physically, spiritually and emotionally, sharing the Love of Christ with everyone.
Through our “New Life” Discipleship Program we teach our clients to be students and followers of Jesus Christ.
We have daily Bible studies and chapel services, provide counseling, encourage higher education, and when each individual is ready, we help them acquire & maintain employment and eventually secure a residence of their own.
We provide nights’ lodging, 3 meals a day, showers and laundry services, and warm clothing, sleeping bags, hats and gloves as provided for the that come to us.
We also take lunches, warm clothing, sleeping bags, hats and gloves to those in need in our community between Astoria and Seaside.
