Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV

Women can find a new life and a new future at the “House of Hope” Women’s Mission. We believe, no matter the circumstances that bring people to us, it is the Lord that guides each person to our home.

We share the Good News that “in Christ, old things are passed away, all things become new.” We share that the old life is replaced by a new life grounded on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. His love conquers all.

During their stay, our guests will learn that past wounds can, indeed, be healed. They participate in daily Bible studies and are encouraged to find a home church where they will find new relationships with like-minded Christians who truly care.

If needed, they are given the opportunity to enroll in Basic Skills classes and/or GED classes.

Ultimately, we want to see every person gainfully employed and grounded in a lasting, committed relationship with the Lord.

I’m 55 years old and for most of the past 30 years I have been addicted to one thing or another. I stay clean and sober when I’m around clean and sober people. When I am in the “world” I find I cannot keep myself from walking that path of destruction. It is only when I am around Christian people and in a clean and sober environment that I can do the right thing. At the Astoria Rescue Mission’s Women’s House of Hope I have found a safe haven from the world. I am so grateful that I have a place where I can learn and grow in the Lord. I thank God that I can see a brighter future for my life. -Dawn

I have been with the Mission for about 2 ½ years now. Having returned to the Lord after spending many years wandering far from Him and making a huge mess of my life, I needed to surround myself with others who not only loved the Lord, but had a desire to follow Him and walk with Him daily. Being at the Mission, I’ve had the opportunity to grow in my walk with the Lord through the discipleship program as well as from the women that come in and share their love for Jesus through Bible Studies and Chapel services. I am blessed each day by their desire to serve the Lord and their heart for the Mission. Earlier this year, I was appointed Resource Administrator for the Mission and am excited to see where God will continue to lead and use me in this. Besides this position with the Mission, I have also begun working as a Medical Assistant for a doctor in Astoria. I also recently just bought a car. I am blessed beyond measure. Before, my life was without hope – I could not see beyond the dark hole I was in, but Jesus came in and saved me. My life has hope, my life has purpose and my life has joy – because of Christ. -Patti
